Summer Sunsets

We can find good points everywhere. No matter where we live, each place has  benefits we can enjoy. I’ve lived in both the North and the South, so I know. Both places have drawing features.
Swimming in the south is enjoyable in the summer. I love the warm, sunny days of summer here in North Carolina.  People can go swimming in water that’s about as warm as the air.  There is no shock to your system when you plunge into the water! This is quite a change from New York where the water is “invigorating” until you get used to it.
Sunsets in New York are unforgettable. There is one thing, however, that I miss in New York: the summer sunsets.  The Rochester area is often overcast with low clouds.  This scenario is perfect for making glorious sunsets because the sun’s fading rays are reflected on the clouds, creating a colorful sky.
Sunsets double when reflected. Many evenings, my husband and I would head to Bear Creek Harbor to watch the sunset over Lake Ontario.  Sometimes the whole sky flamed with reds, golds, and other colors.  When the sky reflected on calm water, the sunset would be doubly grand. Brilliant hues surrounded us. The show continued until bright reds and golds gradually faded into the pink and purple shades of night.

Sunsets are timeless. People in Ella’s time would have enjoyed sunsets, too.  They saw the same marvelous skies as we do today. However, they probably appreciated them even more because they seldom saw anything else as colorful.   Sunsets provide timeless enjoyment. That is, as long as we take the time to view them.
